4. What phrase do you use to bid someone a good night?

Mìneachadh
When saying farewell to Alistair, James said "mar sin leat" and Thomas said "mar sin leibh", because James knows Alistair and Thomas does not. Alistair said "mar sin leibh" in talking to more than one person. He also said "uile" which means "all".
Morag and Catherine said "'S e feasgar math a tha ann" for "It is a good evening". Later on Catherine said "Oidhche mhath" for "Good night". These phrases show that the adjective (the describing word) comes after the noun in Gaelic - "feasgar math" and "oidhche mhath", whereas in English it comes before the noun - "good evening" and "good night". Don't worry too much about the difference between "math" and "mhath" - they both mean good, and "mhath" is a form of "math" which you'll find out about later.
